Studio SML needed to update its digital presence, as its previous website was very basic and completely outdated in terms of both design and content.
The firm is based in Switzerland but works with international clients (and wants to attract more), so the website needed to be available in French and English, but with a structure that was easy to maintain—one that would allow them to manage content in both languages efficiently without relying on complex plugins.
Project objectives:
Reflecting the studio’s minimalist approach while still conveying personality: based on the visual identity created by Rocío Egío, we designed a website where pops of color (yellow, orange, pink) add character without competing with the architecture.
Highlighting typography and white space: creating a smooth, frictionless navigation experience where every element has its place and purpose.
Present projects in detail: each project has its own dedicated page that includes a project overview, galleries of high-quality images, and architectural plans, showcasing various aspects of the work.
Set up an efficient bilingual structure: implement a system that would allow the website to be managed in English and French without technical complications, while maintaining a consistent user experience in both languages.
Careful mobile optimization: ensuring that the mobile experience maintained the elegance and functionality of the desktop version, especially when viewing galleries and floor plans.
In architecture firms, the bar for design is usually set very high, and there’s a particular sensibility at play: it’s not just about the website looking good, but about it being built with logic and discernment.
For this project, we designed the website using a premium template that we extensively modified and customized to reflect the studio’s personality and make the site feel like a true extension of the firm, creating a minimalist yet vibrant visual system inspired by Rocío Egío’s visual identity. A clear and robust website, with subtle touches of character, built with the same attention to detail that Studio SML applies to its architectural projects.
